Well today I renewed the BSS web address and hosting. Why? I dont know. Let me fill you in. Back in August of last year the team decided that www.blackspherestudios.com, the name they all wanted, was too long. SO the team decided to centralize around another name. For now I will remain quiet about it, because to be honest the people that I have left on the team are not my favorites. Most of the original members have had real life (suprise suprise) steal them away from developing. So that leaves us with one finished mod for HL2 and one somewhat worked on mod for F.E.A.R.
I am hoping that real soon the team can stablize somewhat because we are hemmoraging members and getting new ones that, frankly, dont know a hill of beans about modding. Good news is that I am starting not to care.
Onto why I kept the BSS website since we have already moved hosts (Caneca is awesome BTW...iPower has weaker gungfu) and why I am keeping the address.
I have gotten lazy. Yup, thats right I am lazy.
So many links to so much content is being made to our old address by other things (like this journal) that if I were to get rid of that account I would have a shitload of places to redirect to the new place. There. It is the main reason we have kept it this long. We all have linked content there. Oi.
About a year ago we had lots of FTP snooping from some outside source (I can only guess they wanted to look for credit card numbers of other financial info) from the BSS address. So we started NOT using it for anything but frivalrous crap. At the end of the day it all adds up. LOTS OF CRAP from eight users. Lots of files linked by lots of websites. Even using iMaskEm got to be to tiresome. So we have two sets of addresses and files. It is kind of nice though. It is more like all the "official" crap gets to have its own place to be and all the utter tripe that can clog up a production got another home seperate from the vital crap. Costly, but effective. Would have never thought of it too. So I came up with this saying: "Laziness is the mother of all inven..."
